Kyoto Machiya Stay -Tsuzure-

We enjoyed the peacefulness of the neighborhood, the friendliness of the staff, and the beauty of the property—particula Positive: The staff was very friendly and courteous. Negative: The door did not insulate sound very well.

Positive: The counter service is excellent. The room is as beautiful as I expected. I will recommend Enso for sure, everyone will have a wonderful stay here!

Wonderful traditional property in beautiful Kyoto Positive: I had never heard of a Machiya before but our host Tetsuya showed us round the beautiful 200 year old property which was a fully converted textile storehouse and home, complete with 100 year old garden. We loved the calm and peaceful Nishijin area and experienced quirky things like the tapping sticks fire warnings and the crazy Kura Sushi!. My husband said the shower was the best he had all holiday and the big wooden bath was so relaxing. Beds were comfy and coffee making facilities provided. We felt very spoilt and they even provided super soft pyjamas for guests. Thank you to the lovely team at Enso Machiya. Negative: We liked everything about the property but feel guests ought to be aware that Kyoto is a very spread out city and it was a 25-30 minute ride on the bus from the main station (no subway to Nishijin) although buses were very regular and cheap and went to the places you want to see like the Palace and downtown Old Kyoto. Take a taxi with any big luggage (about £12) as the bus forbids this.

Recommend Positive: We stayed only one night as we wanted to experience the traditional Japanese accommodations. It exceeded our expectations and we enjoyed it very much. Negative: The only downside was the price as for 2 people for 1 night we paid 320 €.
